Metals Academy spearheads industry
drive to attract young people
The Metals Academy, marks a new era in the
drive to attract young people to careers in metals, in response to
needs identified by employers throughout the sector. Led by
employers, the Academy draws together the best in education,
careers promotion, apprenticeship and graduate provision nationally
and regionally into a ‘one stop shop’ for employers and young
people.
A range of co-ordinated services is available
at national and regional level, with the central objectives being
to:
- generate interest and commitment amongst young people, pre and
post recruitment to the industry
- influence the education curriculum and availability of training
to meet employer needs
- improve value for money and ease-of-access for employers.
