Employing an Apprentice
Recruiting young people is
essential for companies to grow the next generation of operators
and managers with the right, and in some cases, unique set of
skills to carry their business forward.
In this section, you will find
information about apprenticeships in the metals industry and the
managed apprenticeship service available through the Metskill
Academy.
Metals employers are increasingly realising the need to take on
and develop young people, often to help meet new or changing skills
needs or to ensure that vital in-company expertise is not lost when
employees leave the company or retire.
The Apprenticeship is a powerful mechanism for metal employers
to recruit, shape and develop young people between the ages of 16
and 21. Companies are reporting real business benefits, ranging
from reduced recruitment costs twinned with improved retension
rates, to increased employee commitment and motivation.
