Process Improvement Workshops (PIW)
| A high impact performance programme designed to measurably raise
performance and productivity in a structured and sustained way. Under
guidance from a MICE engineer, a company team use diagnostic tools
to identify process inefficiencies and, in an intensive 5-day workshop,
apply lean improvement tools to eliminate waste and maximise the
process performance. The power of learning by doing enables the team
to maintain and build on the improvements afterwards. |
|

 |
1.
Pre-diagnostic |
| |
A one-day meeting between
the MICE engineer and management group, during which the managers’
expectations for the Workshop, the focus area, team and operational
data for the diagnostic workshop will be established. |
 |
2.
Diagnostic |
| |
A 3-day event to measure the true
current performance level of the area in which the Process Improvement
Workshop will take place. The team will analyse current performance
using standard quality, cost, delivery measures and identify
the key issues. |
 |
3.
Check day |
| |
The day will ensure the company
is prepared for the Workshop and follow up any outstanding actions
from the Diagnostic event. |
 |
4.
Process Improvement Workshop |
| |
During the 5-day Workshop, the team
will investigate and implement counter measures to overcome
the issues identified during the diagnostic phase. They will
develop and test improvements to the processes, which will be
implemented during the Workshop or completed as part of the
action plan between the follow up event. The final day of the
Process Improvement Workshop involves a presentation by the
company team to the management, to outline the improvements
made over the week and the roll –out plan to further develop
the improvements. |
 |
5.
Follow-up visits |
| |
The follow-up visits are designed
to maximise the effectiveness of the roll-out plan. The MICE
engineer will review progress against the plan, and offer advise
and guidance to overcome any problems encountered. |
 |
6.
180 day review |
| |
To help ensure the improvements
made are sustained and full potential benefits achieved, the
MICE engineer will conduct a further follow-up review 180 days
after the Workshop to quantify the improvements achieved and
provide an opportunity for additional advice and support. |
